Kaumana Caves Park
A staircase into a lava tube on the edge of Hilo.
An 1881 Mauna Loa flow left this tube, and a county park drops you straight into its fern-hung skylight. Bring a real flashlight and shoes with grip if you plan to go past the daylight zone. Free, with restrooms and a pavilion up top.
