Malaekahana State Recreation Area

A long, shaded state recreation area between Laʻie and Kahuku with campsites just behind the sand and Goat Island (Mokuʻauia) sitting offshore. Gates run 7 a.m. to about sunset. Reserve camping through Explore Outdoor Hawaiʻi before you drive out... it's permits, not walk-ups.
