The drowned rim of a crater sits three miles off the south shore, a 77-acre marine conservation district since 1977. Boat access only... charters run out of Maʻalaea, Kihei, and Lahaina, and the early boats get the cleanest water. No fishing inside, which is why the fish don't flinch.
