Puʻukohola Heiau National Historic Site
The temple Kamehameha built on his way to uniting the islands.
A half mile loop trail passes the massive stone heiau from 1790, a second temple, and the site of one submerged offshore. It remains a living sacred place for Native Hawaiians, so walk it with that in mind. The whole visit fits in an hour and stays with you longer.
