Alakaʻi Swamp Trail

Boardwalk and mud through scrub forest and open bog on the edge of the Alakaʻi Wilderness, with native honeycreepers working the trees. The payoff is Kilohana, a rim vista that opens clear to Hanalei when the clouds behave. Most people run it off the Pihea Trail from Puʻu o Kila Lookout. Bring shoes you're willing to sacrifice.
