Awaʻawapuhi Trail

Three miles downhill to the rim of the Napali.

Sketch · Good Times staff

Our take

The trail drops through native dryland forest, then quits abruptly at 2,500 feet on a grassy perch above the sheer walls of Awaʻawapuhi and Nualolo valleys. Every foot of elevation comes back due on the return. Start early from the trailhead near mile marker 17 on Kokeʻe Road, before clouds fill the valleys.
