A king's 200-acre gift, still free.
Kalakaua dedicated it in 1877 and named it for his queen, and it's still Honolulu's front lawn. Two hundred acres of banyans, joggers, and pickup games with Diamond Head standing over the far end. The zoo sits at one corner and the beach across the road. Grab shade and watch the city exercise.
