Pihea Trail
Walk the rim of Kalalau Valley without the Kalalau Trail.
Starts at Puʻu o Kila Lookout at the very end of the road and follows the valley rim, with a short spur to Pihea Overlook, the highest point on the edge of Kalalau. Don't push past the overlook... the state marks it plainly, and the terrain drops away. Deep mud near the peak is standard. Native forest birds keep you company if you carry on to the Alakaʻi Swamp junction.
