Pololu Trail & Lookout
Where the road ends in North Kohala, the cliffs begin.
The lookout alone is worth the drive past Hawi, and the steep 0.6 mile trail drops down the cliff face to a black sand beach below. The old cobblestones get slippery, the surf is for looking, and the valley floor has no facilities. The state posts current trail conditions on this page, so glance before you go.
